I'm back and I'm better!

So time to blog again, feeling much more optimistic about this whole blogging thing now, as I got some pretty good feedback from my dear digi-coaches. YOU GUYS ROCK!

This weeks task was to make a group introduction video. On Monday we had a lecture by Viveka Kulmala. She gave us a short presentation about the video making process, the cutting and editing. The lecture was very useful, detailed with new and beneficial information. And this was very insightful and helping as I had no previous experience in making nor editing videos.

We were also informed about what would

be good to keep in mind when making a video.

What to do and what not to do, for instance when making a video it should be either vertical or horizontal but not both. The video task was supposed to include something spoken, something written, fading/cutting, music and last but not least to be creative.

Making the video was not as difficult as I expected it to be, it was much more easier. However the planning and coming up with the ideas was more challenging than I thought. Amazingly we were able to come up with an idea and even record the whole video on that same Monday.

Working with my group is easy, we take on board each others opinions and decide what we do together. I think this is why we had the ability to come up with the idea of the video and record it at the same day without any complications. I honestly look forward to working with my group in more tasks, as our group work is phenomenal. Connie, a fellow group member of mine, took the initiative to do the video editing and cutting this time. However next time it will be either me or someone else, as we all want to learn how to do it and have some experience on how to edit/cut a video.

On Thursdays lecture we had a guest speaker Jarmo Salonen from Nielsen, he gave us an interesting speech about the company he works for. Nielsen's company primarily helps companies and retailers to understand what consumers are buying in terms of categories, brands and products. The company’s aim is to measure all consumer purchases, as buying behavior continues to fragment across channels and segments. For instance, it is Nielsen's data that measures how much Diet Coke vs. Diet Pepsi is sold in stores. As well as the product visibility, where to place certain products, what product should be at the front of the store to attract the consumers’ attention and where in the shelf's should this product be placed at. Nielsen’s company studies all the above and the aim of this, is to understand what the customers want and how to improve the sales, which will lead to bigger profits for the store.

As a conclusion I feel like this week was very productive. I learned a few new things, which is always a great thing. Monday we'll be introduced to our projects, finally! Very enthusiastic to know what exactly is it about and what are we going to do. Bring it on! :)
