Back to reality. First lecture after a month long Christmas break, and the only thing on my mind right now is
''What is Digital Business?''

We were introduced to a new module called Digital Business. I wasn't familiar with this term before this class, however the word itself gives away plenty of ideas about the meaning. I find this study unit interesting and I’m very eager to see the outcomes of it. To be honest the one thing that I was least excited about was, the fact that we would have to write a blog at the end of each week relating to this module. Not cool! But I understand the concept of this, which is pretty good in a way for the reason that, we will recap about what have we learned in that week and enable ourselves to learn even more unconsciously by writing this blog.
Another thing that I’m maaaadly excited about is that we are studying this whole module in English YAAAAAAY! I feel so much more confident in writing and speaking in English. Even though I was actually born and raised here in Finland, weird I KNOW! Besides change is good, right?
On the first day, we were put in groups randomly. In my group, there are two familiar faces and two not so familiar faces. One of the new faces is an international student and the other one is an exchange student. It will be interesting to be working in such a diverse team.

The main thing that stood out to me from this weeks class was the Big Data. Which is the data used on a daily basis. It is all collected in to the Big Data. Everything, whether it is a post on Facebook, online purchase, email etc. And to think the amount of people use the internet for so many different things and all this usage is collected. For businesses this is really essential, a smart way to analyse and gain information. The importance of big data doesn’t revolve around how much data you have, but what you do with it. Big data can be analysed for insights that lead to better decisions and strategic business moves.
